Next week will mark the 4th anniversary of the first time I came to live on a golf course. And in those 4 years, I have never been able to hit a golf ball properly. Not once. Nope.
Let me qualify though, that in those 4 years, I have only held a golf club a maximum of maybe 10 times... Haha! But truthfully, I am all praise and respect for anyone great at golf because it is one mind boggling game. I have never been able to get my mind around how to actually play it. That oddly shaped stick and the tiny hole where you have to putt it in is just too much of a mismatch to comprehend.
I mean, basketball, even though I suck at that too, is fairly easy to understand HOW you get to be good at it. The same goes with football, volleyball, even tennis or badminton. Chess, the game of strategy, is also a concept not that difficult to understand: you anticipate your opponents moves and make your own strategic plans...
But golf, dear Holy God, whoever made this sport was crazy...
Some more photos of the golf course...
Okay, some of those are not really part of the golf course, but who's keeping track anyway? :p
The white thing in the foreground is a mushroom!
With the swimming pool and some flowers along the driveway too.
And lastly, here's a funny blogsite with jokes about golf.

I want my weekends back
It's my first time to be a Maintenance Shutdown Coordinator.
It has been 30 days since I left home.
And I've taken a total of 1 vacations. :p
My daily grind...
Wake up at 0530H (shit, i find it hard to wake up at 630 on normal days...)
Attend Handover meeting at 0600H (at least there's free pandesal and coffee)
Update tracking and organize activities for the day (mostly office work)
Walk/Bike around the plant and coordinate inspection activities (via a 2-way radio)
Attend daily Coordination meeting at 0930H and send out meeting minutes
Continue field work until lunch break at 1130H (then drink some more coffee)
Back to work at 1300H
Field work under the scorching heat of the sun (ouch)
Get sunburnt. (more and more each day)
Coordinate field activities until 1800H (to the last minute!)
Attend handover to night shift meeting at 1800H
And every other day, be the meeting scribe and stay until minutes are reviewed and sent out (sometimes until around 2030H)
Go home and shower to remove the sweat and dirt from the day's work
Dinner at around 2130H (and this is why I'm gaining weight instead of losing weight)
Go home to sleep by 2300H (no late nights!)
I have been counting the days, the hours, until I can have my weekends back.
I am optimistic that this coming Saturday will be mine. ALL MINE.
Finally...
update*
They just lit up the flare. :D
Hopefully tomorrow, the flare will bring new energy to all the workers (including myself) to get this whole thing done. It's been a looong road, but the end is near.
yay!

It's Ash Wednesday
When I was 13, I joined a TV quiz show representing my school. One of the questions were: What is the first day of Lent?
...I didn't know. :p
We lost but what the heck. I was 13 and I was on TV. lol.
Some funny things at the Ash Wednesday mass I attended over lunch break at work.
- When everybody stood up, there was this 6 foot tall intern standing in front of a lady colleague who was less than 5 feet tall. Poor lady couldn't see the priest!
- After we were all given ash crosses on our foreheads, a male colleague took out his handkerchief and began wiping his face and forehead, then suddenly exclaimed, "Ay! Nabura ko!(I erased it!)" hahaha...
- Then the Shutdown meeting snack later that day was siopao. (Bread with pork inside).(Note: Abstaining from pork during Lent is a Catholic practice.. in case you didn't get why it was funny! :p)
On a totally unrelated topic, here a creepy photo of the moon I took a couple of weeks ago when it was full...(click to enlarge)

I never thought I'd ever be this disappointed to hear about a new holiday...
Monday, December 8 is a holiday in the whole of Batangas Province.

I just feel like typing today
I have tons of work to do ... but I just feel like typing today (tonight, to be exact).
"Hey hey hey, are you OK?"
I am now a certified First Aider! I'm hoping I never get to use my new skills, but knowing that you know how to save someone's life is kinda cool. I can imagine how doctors must feel. Hehehe...
I'm off to Singapore (agen) next week for a few days. I'm attending a workshop this time around. Whoever is there, buy me some coffee aight. :D I'm leaving on Wednesday from the Centennial Airport (Terminal 2, the nicer airport). I'll be back in Maynila on Sunday next week. Oh, and I read somewhere that the NAIA 3 Terminal is now open (finally!).
They've formed a choir here in Shell Tabangao, and I'm one of the singers of course. Our conductor is a former Madz who took up Choral Conducting in the UPCMu.
It's a HOLIDAY on MONDAY! yay!

Stupid Silly Poems of Overworked on a Friday
Office Instant Messenger at 6PM on a Friday night...
Officemate 1: Rey, pauwi na ba kayo in a few minutes?
Me: Hmm, how few is few?
a few is just bit
but another thought, just wait!
'coz a bit is less than few
or does that depend on you?
I know a couple is just two
so does few mean more than..., oooh
how about a "teka lang"
is it really short or long-
Officemate 1: huh?
Me: ....
just a pondering on "few"
maybe Tudoy or you knew
is it more than "several",
is it more than 1 at all?
Officemate 1: tudoy pls answer, di ko na nage-gets si rey
Officemate 2: weird na si rey

Suddenly Taller
I feel suddenly taller.
But my head also feels suddenly heavier.
Like it's harder to balance when I walk...

Photographic Memory
07/12 - This bird won't budge. It just won't.
Then after a few minutes, it pooped then flew away. It must've been too shy to do its business while i was there. Haha!
07/21 - The UP Concert Chorus bulletin board. Haha! Memories.
I visited them last Saturday. They were rehearsing some choreography for their upcoming UPBeat Concert. I remember those times when I was the one leading choreography rehearsals, tough but fun.
I will be watching on August 11 with my gf and also former UPCC, Liz, and also with a few more UPCC Alumni.
07/25 - (One of) Bryan's send off party(-ies). This one at the Ponte Fino Hotel with the MF Finance Dept. Bryan (who is also one of my housemates and badminton buddies) is the guy I'm pointing at. He's off to the land of the merlion to earn loads of Sing dollars and maybe learn a thing or two about GSAP. See you in December Don Bryan!
o7/26 - They say there's a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. I still have to check, but this looks promising!
