"Earning 10 in 2010" - March Online Earnings update!

Happy Easter! My monthly post about my Online Earnings was delayed because I was on vacation for the Holy Week. It was 4 vacation days well spent with my loved ones. Now, back to what you came here to read about!

October 2008 to March 2010 Online Earnings
Oops! I did it again. I exceeded by $10 a month goal for March! I earned a total of $15.02 for the month despite the lack of sponsored posts from Sponsored Reviews and an overdue unpaid post from Blogsvertise. Whoops. Read on...

Break it down!

Will no longer mention the sites that did not earn me anything this month! :p

Google Adsense - Thanks to Manny Pacquiao (lol!), my Adsense earnings this month was the highest I've ever gotten.  I raked up about $9.60 this month, not bad methinks! I can only imagine how some folks would prepare really well in order to capture this surge of searches and Twitter clicks coming from huge media events such as a boxing match. I hear those who use SEO opimization and multiple blogs can earn as much as $200 is one hour from events like this. Whoa...

Nuffnang.com.ph - Php34.69 or about $0.72 only. Notice that sometimes Nuffnang ads are visible and sometimes they're not? I'm not sure about the configuration they have in showing ads, if it is time based or trend-based, but one possible improvement would be to make sure ads are always shown during anticipated high blog traffic events like the Pacquiao match. :p

Sponsored Tweets - Paling in comparison to my previous month's revenue from Sponsored Tweets, I only earned $3.10 this month. They have launched their own link shortener which I noticed generated less clicks than bit.ly - which meant less revenues for them, and less opps for me. Boo...

I was pleasantly surprised, though that one of my referrals had already begun earning from Sponsored Tweets. Way to go!

Adgitize - Earning from this service is based on how hard you work for it. I would say that Adgitize requires a bit more effort to be able to earn significantly. I earned a mere $0.36 this month because, well, I don't work hard for it.

Chitika - Chitika has introduced a new ad service targeting not just their usual Search Engine traffic, but a special "select traffic" not coming from Searches. I earned $1.24 this month.

Blogsvertise - I signed up for this last month and was greeted by an email saying my "Blog has little or no content and/or Blog is brand new and does not appear to be at least 30 days old." After reading their FAQ, it seems I might have to wait a bit before they come to their senses before I can properly earn from this service. :p I have a pending $2.00 payout from them still. Hello guys?

Blog4Reviews - I recently signed up for this website, a service recommended by another blogger friend. I have not heard from them yet, i.e. if my blog was accepted or not. Maybe they're on vacation too? Hehe.

Summarizing - Monetizing

In summary, my online earnings for 2010...
January 2010 = $9.28
February 2010 = $41.87
March 2010 = $15.02

I have changed my Jan and Feb earnings, some services update your actual earnings after a review.  In any case, I have now passively earned a total of $66.18 (roughly Php3,000) in 3 months. I have already doubled my target of $30 in 3 months, but do hope my earnings continue its uptrend!

Continuous learning

It is a continuing journey of trial and error, learning from successes and mistakes. Here are some more things I learned this month:
  • If you're planning on blogging and earning from global or national events, you should
    • (1) post your blog as soon as the event finished or, in the case of Board or Bar exam results, as soon as they are released.
    • (2) You should also do SEO optimization because you will be competing with them SEO experts for the top spot on those search engines!
  • It pays to monitor your monthly revenue and it pays to have a realistic target. I developed my target from a zero profit scenario - my cash out for my domain and some miscellaneous blogging cost. Anything I earned beyond my $10 is revenue. It's easy to see how much I'm actually earning and it doesn't take so much effort to monitor it (just some skills in MS Excel haha).
